Oooh! Here are lots of lovely events!

DFWI has sent through a number of events - take a look and let us know if you are interested in any of them!
We usually have a good number of folk attending the Sprinig Council meeting - some get there by bus, and others by car! It is a great day, with fabulous speakers. It's really worth going! (Especially as it's only down the road!)

Of course, we are ahead of the game with this one! It was such a lovely walk to Berry Head and brunch at the Guardhouse Café last year! Our walk is 26 April. Some folk arrived on wheels, so everyone can join in if they would like to!

Show the Love for our planet!

You can read more of this WI blog by looking at

Are you planning to think about what you can do to help the planet? David Attenborough has really brought this issue to everyone's attention - what can we do to help? Each one of us can make a difference!

A very busy craft group!

Iris folding turned out to be a very popular session! Plenty of people turned up to the Lyte House on Bolton Street from 2 o'clock until 4. (Or were they drawn to the idea of a cup of tea and a chat?) it was all going on, including some knitting! There was a great deal of concentration and plenty of beautiful cards were produced.
I'm not sure what has been chosen for next month - it will be a great afternoon, so put it in your diary! Always the Tuesday which follows the Institute meeting.

Walking Netball is fun!

Seven members from Brixham WI turned up for Walking Netball today! Along with one from Galmpton and four others, we began with a gentle warm up, some practice - it's surprising just how much brain work is involved! - and we ended with a 6 a side game. It was lots of fun, and most people adjourned upstairs at the Parkfield Centre for coffee, biscuits and a chat. We're all looking forward to the next session! A couple of people thought they might be coming to watch, at least for part of the time - but everyone joined in for the whole time!

Our first meeting of 2018

The room was buzzing, with lots of activity and people catching up after the Christmas and New Year break. Sandy, Margery and Barbara demonstrated their excellent crafts giving those who stopped by their tables a great insight  into spinning, smocking and shaker card making. Sue spent some time, too, explaining how we managed to create our needle felting items on display.

In the morning three of us had attended the Walking Netball session from 9.30 - 10.30 at the Parkfield Centre in Paignton. We have at least five more sessions, same time and day of the week, with a possibility of it continuing. Come along and see if you would like it - all are welcome - no running, jumping or over exertions! You can always come to observe if you aren't sure. Be sure to get in touch so that we can share transport!

Dart Bay paper flowers and Pom Pom day

Sue and I spent a very lovely morning in Torquay, at Jax studio (above the indoor market) with a few WI members from the area. We made some very beautiful flowers.....and some of mine, which were not quite so successful! A very good workshop, well worth it, as you can see from the photos. The next workshop is for flower arranging - with lunch included!
