A round up of activities….

The walkers had a lovely time, walking around the harbour - perhaps to the CafĂ© at Fishcombe Cove?

Annie has sent me a photo of her rather spectacular sunflower. Mine were eaten by slugs, very early on, so I am very impressed indeed with this one:

Barbara L  and Beryl have been making beautiful cards; Barbara is really planning ahead….

Tuesday 29 June 2021

Today (Tuesday)’s walk starts at 10.30 from the Man and Boy statue! Have fun!

Quirky Bird watercolours on YouTube

What a day it was yesterday! Perfect to sit down and follow a watercolour painting tutorial! Here is my attempt!

Our walk today

We had rather a blustery walk along the breakwater today - holding on to everything! Then, the four of us had a very sociable time over a coffee! I forgot to take a photo until I was on my way home!

Lovely! Thank you for your company!

Denman at Home

Lots of folk comment on the lovely cards made by some of our members - here is a course just for you!

https://www.denman.org.uk/whats-on/craft-school/online-course-using-foils-and-metallic-leaf-in-cardmaking-with-liz-2021-06-29-130000/

There are loads more, too, covering all sorts of topics! Take a look and go for it!

More sewing ….

Here is Tina’s very splendid summer dressing gown, made for her husband’s birthday. The first garment she has made since 1980s. I think it may be the start of things…..

Friday 18 June 2021

A spot of rain and we all start making things again….

Beryl prefers card making to housework! Who wouldn’t?

Me, too! Yes, it has an air of popcorn about it!

Is anyone up for a craftivist meeting to make some cute little yellow canaries?

I have replaced my gorgeous roses with yellow canaries! #canarycraftivism This is about making a gentle protest about climate change. Asking our MP and those in power to do something about climate change.

Multi talented…

Barbara L…has knitted a gorgeous cardigan with very pretty buttons!

She isn’t claiming any credit for these lovely poppies which have appeared in her garden - a gift from a passing bird, perhaps?

Wednesday 16 June 2021

Mary C has been busy, too!

A really shiny, rainbow card here! Someone is going to be very lucky!

Barbara L and Beryl have been busy again!

They have promised to run some card making sessions for us! (Quite a few, I am hoping!)

The butterflies are lifting off the page!

What a straightforward, yet totally stunning effect here!

You would keep this one in your treasure box, long after settling in to your new home!

Tuesday 15 June 2021

The Railway Inn at Churston

Proved to be an excellent venue for the coffee and chat this morning! Another one has been booked for 13th July! Don’t miss out!

More watercolour butterflies

These are gorgeous, by Carolyn and Barbara L

What was really useful about the session with Lynn, the Quirky Bird, was that she taught us two different techniques to create the butterflies. With this beautiful weather it will be just the thing to sit in the garden, practising.

Monday 14 June 2021

Are you going to the Railway Inn on Tuesday 15th for coffee?

If you have a good time and would like to do it again - make sure to agree a day, time and venue before you leave! Then, let me know so that I can publish it and other members can join in as well!

Quirky Bird Watercolour zoom session!

We have just spent a relaxing, restful and most enjoyable evening with Lynn, the watercolour artist patiently showing us all how to paint two butterflies. Barbara L, Carolyn, Mary W and Carol P were all there, too - and my daughter who is staying with us at the moment! Here are our efforts - hoping to see some more soon.

Look for Quirky Bird Watercolours by Lynn on YouTube or on Facebook. There are loads of ‘paint along’ videos.

What is on this week for you lovely Brixham WI members?

Tuesday 15th coffee at the Railway Inn, Churston. 11 am. Just turn up and be sociable!
Wednesday 16th 2pm walk from the Man and Boy Statue. Just turn up and be sociable again!
Thursday 17th 8.30 am swim at the Admiral Pool. Just turn up and swim! (Sociably!)

Wednesday 9 June 2021

The afternoon at Cayman Golf was enjoyed by 11 of our members! It sounds as if a lot of fun was had by all, ending up with an ice cream or a cup of tea and home before the rain started! They were too busy to take any photos!

Does anyone fancy a trip to Goodrington Park? for a round of mini golf followed by a cup of tea at the Cantina. On Thursday 1st July?

This week’s walk

What a gorgeous day! And some very happy people!

Did they choose next week’s day? If not, how about Wednesday 16th at 2pm, Man and Boy statue?
