Interesting information...

....from a zoom meeting yesterday for WI committee officers (Presidents, Treasurers and Secretaries). One of the Devon WIs mentioned how angry some of their members had felt last year when they thought that NFWI should have reduced our subscription. (Even though they gave us three free months! How that is not regarded as a reduction, I fail to see!)

One of the advisors present, who has been a WI member for 60 years, explained that the issue of subscriptions was discussed at a National Annual Meeting several years ago.  The aim was that at least half of the subscription should be retained by each WI, with the smaller portion going to County and National. This was discussed and agreed at that meeting, and the £1 annual increase was agreed at the National Council Meeting, which is attended by every Chair and Treasurer from all of the County Federations.

Here is a table showing how that aim has been achieved:

As the advisors pointed out, it is such a shame that some members were so angry about the subscription situation last year, and yet didn’t understand the reasons and the history!
