What shall we do this year!

💚 Get involved in Show the Love 2022! 💚
The WI is kick-starting our climate campaigns this year with Show the Love 2022.
The UK Government came out of the COP26 UN Climate Summit with a big to-do list.
This February 2022, we must all come together to make sure they deliver on their promises and plans.
There are two ways you can get involved in Show the Love 2022.
💚 You can use your green hearts to ask your MP to keep up the momentum on climate change. This can be done through sending your MP a green heart affixed to your Show the Love postcard, or by presenting them with green hearts through an in-person or virtual meeting.
💚 Using you, or your WI’s creative skills, you can make, wear and spread green hearts around your community to make visible to your MP your wish for the pledges made at COP26 to be acted on in Parliament. The more green hearts MPs see in their constituency, the stronger their mandates to make sure your wishes are acted on in Parliament.
There are a range of resources available to help you with your Show the Love 2022 plans, including the action pack, policy briefings to use when meeting your MP, craft templates; including a new green heart craft from Patrick Grant from The Great British Sewing Bee, and downloadable postcards.
As a WI member, you will be receiving a postcard for your use in February’s WI Life.
In addition, the NFWI Public Affairs team have a very limited number of physical packs and postcards available. Should you or your WI need any physical action packs or postcards, please contact pa@nfwi.org.uk

Here is something very different from Denman on line! Open to everyone, not just WI members!
It’s that time of the year for a warm wool beret. Join Sue to make a cosy handmade felt beret. Decorate it with needle felt or some appliquéd motifs or even make it sophisticated by adding seed pearls or pearl buttons. This is an easy introduction into making a felt hat using soft merino wool.

Wednesday 12 January 2022

You have received the January email, Brixham WI members! Please consider which resolution you will vote for! This is an integral part of the WI:

The very first WI resolution was passed in 1918 at the NFWI’s second Annual Meeting and called for a ‘sufficient supply of convenient and sanitary houses, being of vital importance to women in the country’.
We have made a difference in many aspects of our life - take a look here to find out more: https://www.thewi.org.uk/campaigns/100-years-of-wi-campaigns

Monday 10 January 2022

Brixham WI members, please use your vote! Look in the last edition of WI Life, or look at www.thewi.org.uk where you will find the shortlist from which you make your choice. Wendy Mac, our secretary will send your votes to Devon Federation. I will ask for your vote in the January WI email, coming to an in-box near you soon!

 Book Share members!

A Street Car Named Desire - will be discussed at the Golf Club at 2pm on Thursday instead of the Railway Inn. (Just a bit further along the road).
oh no! It was a Street Cat Named Bob, wasn’t it? 😹😹😹

What a brilliant walk today, with lovely company and a change of scene. We finished at the Golf Club for a very good cup of coffee! Most of the party walked home, too! Thank you to Jean and Hilary!

There is a walk tomorrow as well, starting from the Man and Boy statue as usual at 10.30 - the Brixham Walk! Sue England Jean Bartlett Tina Hemmings Mary Williams Hilary Bligh Wendy Parr

Sunday 9 January 2022

For this week’s activities, Brixham WI members, we have:

Monday 10.30am meet at the bus station to go to Churston Bridge and walk from there.
2pm committee meeting
Thursday 8.30am meet at the Admiral Pool for a swim
2pm Book Share group meet at The Railway Inn

At the end of a walk last November!

Friday 7 January 2022

Advance notice of a slight change for our walkers!

Instead of walking on Tuesday, we are changing to Monday at 10.30 am.

Also! The walks will be more varied!
Still very sociable, still not a route march and still ending up with a hot drink somewhere!
You will need to bring your bus pass!

Tuesday 4 January 2022

Some of us braved the cold wind for a walk this morning! Thank you all for your lovely company, it was great to see you all and have a chat! I forgot to take a photo of us; but rest assured that we looked very wind swept and interesting!

i hope those who met for a coffee at the Railway Inn had a good catch up, too!

Monday 3 January 2022

As a result of your answers to my question about our monthly coffee morning: it seems that it will go ahead but with probably fewer people!

A number of people would be happy to walk instead - so maybe there will be a walk from the Man and Boy statue at 10.30 for some and a coffee morning at 11 at the Railway Inn for the others.
If you said you would go to the coffee morning, please do - otherwise it would be awful for only one person to turn up!

Sunday 2 January 2022

Good Morning, Brixham wI members, on the first Sunday of 2022! What to do this week?

Shall we meet at The Railway Inn on Tuesday at 11am?
According to the figures today, Covid and Omicron numbers in our area are rising! Do you still want to drink coffee together?
Shall we swim at the Admiral Pool from 8.30 am on Thursday?
Please let me know: yes or no? Which?
