Women Walk the World

Our walk to mark ACWW day (when the Associated Country Women of the World was founded) repeated the success of last year in every way! Sunshine, a lovely walk along the coastal path up to the Guardhouse Café at Berry Head and excellent company! We received a very warm welcome and a wonderful breakfast from the staff at the café who went out of their way to make us feel at home. We made a collection of £17.90 for ACWW funds and managed to dodge the rain on our way home.
Feeling solidarity with the women of the world!

Have a look at the ACWW.org.uk website for more information about their activities.

Shrink plastic

at our craft session was great fun! Everyone was engrossed in making and decorating a design, then amazed to watch it shrink before our very eyes!
No photos, I’m afraid! I was so busy I didn’t give it a thought! Lovely cup of tea and a very sociable time was enjoyed by all. Thank you Barbara and Beryl.

DFWI Spring Council Meeting in Torquay

What an excellent day! We arrived in plenty of time to secure some good seats in the hall, wander around the varied and delightful stalls as well as stopping for a cup of coffee. Some of us booked into the ‘dabble sessions’ organised at lunchtime.
We browsed the competition entries:

This was the winner in the ‘suggest a logo for the Devon centenary celebrations’

This postcard was regarded by us as the best in the ‘write a postcard to a friend’ competition!

And this is one of the paper craft flower ‘dabble’ sessions at lunchtime.

Martine Wright, the main speaker was really inspiring indeed.

Crochet workshop

Lots of people came! We had coffee and biscuits (thank you, Elly!) and we made enough crochet squares for a ..... pillow case or a blanket for a very small person? (Thank you, Sandy!)
It was lots of fun, and most people promised to do some more at home so that our blanket will turn out to be....well, blanket sized!

Resolution news!

Don't forget to read about our current resolution in your copy of WI Life, on the NFWI website or the Devon WI Facebook pages! We will need to decide how we want our delegate to vote at the NFWI Annual Meeting.
