Would you look at this cute little fella...
Not satisfied with encouraging us all to knit a herd of cows, Barbara L has sewn the seed of a teddy bears picnic! Anyone up for this? (Look at his cute little face! How can you resist?)

Torbay Recycling Centre at Yalberton - news!
Sue has discovered this very useful item of local news:
The Tip at Yalberton Road is re-opening from next Wednesday. In order to gain access you have to ring 01803 208777 and book a time slot. You then, with your car loaded for that day, prior to your time slot, go to Goodrington Beach over flow car park and collect a voucher.

Preparations for the weekend!
People are preparing their gardens! Woo hoo, Barbara and Karl!
Here is a message from John Brennan:
This Friday marks the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW2 ( 1939-1945) in Europe. The conflict continued in the Far East for another 3 Months until 2 atomic bombs were dropped and Japan surrendered.
WW2 was the greatest disaster in human history . It resulted in the direct deaths worldwide of at least 63 Million recorded deaths and countless millions suffering injury and bereavement. In Brixham with a population of circa 8,000 people ( swollen with thousands of Belgium Refugees and evacuees from the cities) the loss of life was also significant with over 125 people. There were 25 local awards for gallantry showing that the level of `active service` was high. Several are buried in St. Mary`s Churchyard.
The UK as a whole lost over 400,000 people -around 10% of the population. Winston Churchill was asked after the conflict what name shall we give it ? He replied `The Unnecessary War` . Therein lies the best reason for why we and all future generations should REMEMBER and learn from this historic conflict. We do not want future generations to endure the suffering and sacrifices.

VE Day Celebrations!
Have you invited your neighbours to join you in celebrating VE Day with a Spaced Out Street Party? ! Everyone in their own garden and shouting at each other?
I have heard from two WI members who have set this in motion!
Ann has been doing some research into what food to serve:

Scrubs delivery today!
I walked along to Douglas House with 15 sets of scrubs and 15 bags (so that they can be transported and laundered without any cross contamination). Tracey, the manager, was very pleased to receive them!
Well done and thank you to everyone involved!
On with the sewing, everyone!
