Book Share this afternoon.
Busy time at bookshare today, and so much learnt. The book of last month was Snow Country by Sebastian Faulks was not well received by all, deemed a bit depressing and confusing to follow.
Better reading had come from books and titles we shared ourselves. Spooky (but not scary) books by Phil Rickman with Merrily Watkins, Mr Rosenbaum’s List, Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson and Victoria Hislop’s well researched novels. Non fiction: The Very Secret Sex Life of Medieval Women.
This month’s book is another requested by the group, the Wide Sargasso Sea
Thank you, Jayne.

Film night… from Tina
Just been on a WI event to Brixham theatre to watch A Man Called Otto.
Funny, sad, happy and great pathos. We all enjoyed it and are looking forward to seeing it again, when shown on TV.
Book Worms
Thank you, Sue E for this:
At our WI Bookclub meeting this morning. We decided our book this month. Past Imperfect by Julian Fellowes didn’t go down to well. Nobody really enjoyed it. Census was, it was too packed out with waffle, we didn’t enjoy the snobbery of writing from that era, a disappointing ending. 2/10 vote
Many other books were discussed though, which have been read recently and really enjoyed, recommendations were as follows.
My Mother’s secret - Sheila O’Flanagan
Earth’s children book series by Jean Auel
Five French Hens -Judy Leigh
The Echo of old books - Barbara Davis
We also looked at the book list for next year, we are excited to have such a choice. We all picked some of our favourite authors.
