Tuesday 2nd January 2024: 10.30 coffee at Lupton House Café. please look at our WhatsApp group to double check it will be open!

Thursday: Mindful Colouring at 2pm

Friday: 10.30 coffee at the Berry Head hotel.

Sunday 7th: for those already booked and paid: Pantomime in Paignton!

Cake!

 Last week, I was feeling so proud of our lovely meeting, I posted a photo of the splendid cake made for us by Virginia on the UWI FaceBook page. You can see that, as of today, 67 people have ’liked’ it, and several kind comments have been added!

We all liked it very much, too!

What’s On?

 Last week was absolutely amazing! Thank you to all of my great friends in Brixham WI! We had a ball together! 

There is a Monday walk tomorrow: catch the 9.30 bus for a walk to Dartington.
Also a Friday meet for coffee at the Berry Head Hotel, 10.30.
We just can’t help it! Enjoy a good run up to Christmas week, Everyone

A message from Jayne for everyone who came to our meeting this month:

 Two things from Wednesday’s meeting.

First, who recognises the plate left behind? Problem solved! The owner has been found!

Secondly someone came to me with 3 things; a speaker recommendation (booked) a choir (asked at the meeting) and missing emails. Apologies but I can’t remember who’s not getting WI email. If it’s you could you please let me know?

Book Worms - from Rebecca

 Yesterday bookworms met and discussed a book by mark billingham. I won’t put the title as Facebook won’t allow it but it was “The M*****” book” we all found it very forgettable and couldn’t get into the relationship shop between the characters and get you needed to have read other books in the series. Not one we’ll be recommending! Other books read this month include “little” by Edward Carey, “Damaged” by Cathy Glass, all Heather Morris’s book, “ Inheritance” by Nora Robert’s and “ A walk across the sun” by Corbin Addison.

We also discussed Christmas, good places to eat, scammers and tv programmes “Vigil” and “ Hidden Assets” then a wonderful time at the WI meeting afterwards!!

Brixham WI does Christmas!

Well, what can I say after this afternoon?

Brixham WI knows how to have a good party! Lots of fun, lots of delicious food, lots of really excellent company, friends from three of our neighbour WIs ….. delightful flowers to decorate our tables, a truly magnificent Christmas Cake, pretty gifts grown, prepared, sewn and beautifully wrapped by our members and some brain teasing quizzes! A nifty Bucks Fizz to keep us going before a very welcome cup of tea! The raffle gifts were beautifully wrapped and presented - and we managed a heartfelt rendition of Jerusalem to start and ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ to finish. Wow! It has been a marvellous way to spend the year with you all, Brixham WI friends. Shall we do it all again next year? Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

 

What’s On?

 Our last week of Brixham WI activities before the Big Day! What is going on? Let’s have some fun!

Monday: Our walkers are staying local and catching the 12 bus as usual at 9.30 to Goodrington and walking over into Paignton.

(Not a WI event, too good to miss! Tuesday at 7.30 pm Beltane @Totnes Christmas Market Beltane Border Morris dancers will be at Totnes Christmas market.)

Wednesday: Book Worms at 11 am

Wednesday: our December meeting! Remember it starts a half an hour later than usual, at 2.30 pm Check your email so you know what to bring!

Thursday: Book Share lunch 12.30

(Not a WI event, too good to miss! Music @the Edge playing Christmas at Brixham Library at 3pm)

Friday: 10.30 coffee at the Berry Head Hotel
