Such a coincidence! We ended our Life on the Edge project this week and here on the BBC homepage, is an article all about why we were involved!

For those of you who didn’t take part, spend a little time to find out what we were doing by reading this! Simply click on the link below.

This is what it is all about!

What happened on Wednesday afternoon at our marvellous WI event is really why I am a WI member. It was the perfect example of lots of members coming together, and everyone doing what they could to make it all work, ensuring that everyone had the best time. Just wonderful! Thank you all!

Here are some more photos!

What’s on?

This week is our prestigious Margaret Seaward Exhibition, which takes place to coincide with the end of our wonderful Life on the Edge project.

On Wednesday 29th October 2pm at the Rugby Club. Bring your exhibit to put on display and participate in (or observe) the drumming session. Then we will have a round up of what we have learned and achieved - even ‘though your seeds may not have grown, at least you had a patch of pocket meadow in your garden to encourage more insect life. There will be tea and cakes, judging and admiring our exhibition.

CPR

A post from St Hon Ambulance, published on Facebook:

Help us make the CPR Bra into a reality

πŸ’š
In 2024, we were blown away by the public's response to our CPR Bra campaign. Together, we raised awareness of the CPR gender gap, and the fact that one in three would be afraid to give CPR to a woman in public.
Many of you asked if you'd be able to buy one for yourself. We've been working to develop a CPR Bra that gets the message out there, but also functions as a high-quality sports bra.
Now, we need your help. We're in the final stages of product development and we need YOUR views to help make the CPR Bra as good as it can possibly be.

Please fill out our survey with your thoughts: https://forms.office.com/e/JAwHp6khMh

Glass Etching

Our glass etching workshop was a great success, with lots of names on the waiting list. In response to this we have arranged another one on Wednesday 26th November. Brixham Rugby Club, 2pm. Cost around £12

There are spaces! If you did it before, you can do it again!
Please let me know!

Wednesday, 15 October 2025

We have a vacancy for one new member.
One of our new members has resigned her membership of Brixham WI, due, I think, to family and social commitments.
The committee has decided to fill that space using the same method as before.
We have decided to invite women to email us on 10th November after 12 noon, at our Brixham WI email.
brixham@devonwi.org.uk.
Only an email received after 12 noon, will be accepted, and the first to reply will be invited to join us and advised accordingly. Only applications via email will be considered. Women can get a friend to apply on their behalf if an email is difficult for them. Any phone calls or other contacts to committee members will not be acceptable.
When we post this on the old Brixham WI Facebook page, we would like it if current members go into the old FB page (not this, the Members only one) and like the post. This will hopefully bring the algorithm to more people.

This information will be sent to you all by email, and also posted on the blog and both FB pages later today.

Book Worms report from Rebecca

Bookworms met yesterday to talk about our last book, Dissolution by C.J Sansom. Enjoyed overall but too many characters to keep track of and kept covering old ground. Someone said it’s not his best book! Others have also watched the tv adaptation called Shardlake and enjoyed that. (ITV) we agreed times haven’t changed much in many ways!

We also put the world to right with chats about world politics and driving/ parking!!
Overall a lovely session. This months book is No Ordinary day by Matt Johnson, a non fiction about the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher.
We do have one space still if anyone would like to join our friendly group!
