Great time this afternoon!

There was a great deal of concentration required to make the cards today! Despite the fact that most people had never attempted iris folding before, the results were stunning! Thank you Barbara and Beryl. Some people were knitting, in preparation for our Easter coffee morning sales table, and others were being very sociable, and helping out where required.

Don’t miss out!

When you join the WI, you receive a little booklet full of money off vouchers. Inside the front cover is your membership card. Be sure to press that out, fill it in and keep it in your purse! I’ve just read that Edinburgh Woollen Mill will give 10% discount on sight of your card! If you shop there, that is a nice bonus!
It is worth looking through that booklet carefully - I have seen recommendations for a number of the offers. It all depends whether you were intending to use that service anyway, doesn’t it? If you were, then it’s a double bubble situation!

March Institute Meeting

Well!  What a fantastic meeting today! It was rather noisy to begin with, when everyone came in! We had four - or was it five? - guests! Welcome!
Our beekeeper, Liz Westcott was so very knowledgeable and interesting! Fortunately she brought plenty of honey and other products she makes, and she had to deal with a long queue after her talk!
She chose a beautiful mimosa as first in the flower competition, with a gorgeous cherry blossom a close second.
What a lovely display from all of the flower competition entries.

Felting workshop

We had a very enjoyable and productive wet felting workshop with Tracy Johnson.

Once we had laid the strands of wool to create our picture we had to smooth and then knock it about in order for the fibres to mesh together and shrink. This latter process involved a degree of violence in some cases! (Editor’s note: sorry, but this doesn’t appear to have loaded as a video clip! I shall consult some experts to see if I can remedy this)

Ladies Lunch!

We had a really great time together today at the Manor Inn, Galmpton. The beauty of the lunch club is that you can sit next to someone different each time, and get to know them. Margaret did a sterling job, organising us all and sorting everything out - thank you! We are all looking forward to the next one!
