We have all received an email from NFWI about the Clean our Rivers campaign. Do you wish to add your voice or take some action? Look at the email and MyWI to find out how. Here is a passage copied from MyWI:
We're happy to see the government is taking action, however, regulators not only need more powers but also resources. Given the sheer scale of the sewage crisis, we’re concerned that the measures won’t create the transformational change we need to fix our broken water system and want to see a UK-wide statutory public inquiry to deliver reform of the water system
Designated bathing waters are key to cleaning up our polluted waters, as they are the only places where water quality is regularly monitored for its effect on human health and legal obligations are put on polluting industries to clean up their act. We need to see bathing water applications in England urgently reopened after DEFRA decided to put them on hold earlier this year.
