The room was full, and we welcomed some visitors who joined in with everything! Our rendition of Jerusalem resulted in praise from one visitor in particular who said that the Riviera Singers are in need of more members!
We had a brief look at the four resolutions, and each member voted for the one they wish to see go through to be debated at the NFWI Annual Meeting in Cardiff. Most votes were cast for Save our Water. All of the results will be sent to DFWI and then all of the results from Devon will be sent to NFWI.
We had a trial sales table…the results of that have yet to be announced!
Our activity this afternoon was a game of beetle; organised and explained by Mary H. It was a lot of fun!
Susan F read us a short and very powerful thought for the day, Jill P won the flower competition, with Jane M coming second. Mary W and Sue E ran a very good raffle, with prizes snapped up by the lucky winners.
There is a visit to Torbay recycling centre being organised by Tina on February 8th; two musical evenings at Brixham theatre (Lynn A) and the Aida in Torquay in April (Sparks). Plans are all in place for the New Year meal organised by Mary C. The monthly Tuesday coffee morning attendees were given the choice of the café at Lupton House or the recently reopened Brixham Does Care café, under the theatre in the Scala Hall. The Lupton House café was the overwhelming favourite. Sew Mondays is on 23rd this month - please tell Jill Haslem if you wish to join in.
At our January craft meeting we will be making flowers using wool and a fork! Yes! Please bring some wool - double knitting or finer, and a fork from your cutlery drawer. All other kit and materials will be provided.
A big thank you to Jayne and Mary for organising and running another fun and successful meeting!
