Bookworms met today. We read ‘the bread the devil knead’ by Lisa Allen-Agostini. Overall we enjoyed it although it was harder to read as written as the main character would speak on Trinidadian Creole but we agreed if it was written as we would, it wouldn’t have had the same impact. It was a sad story of lifetime abuse but with some hope for the future of the character and we could have used a glossary for some of the words used. We’re hoping for a lighter story this month!
