A big thank you to Devon WI for organising such an informative and enjoyable day in Torquay today! The stalls in the hall were varied and interesting - a number of our party couldn’t resist a gorgeous leather handbag! - and the speakers were fascinating! Floella Benjamin was inspiring, amazing …everything we anticipated and so much more! What an inspiring woman!
We learned that membership numbers are enormously reduced, both nationwide and in Devon, as are the number of Institutes. Pre Covid there were about 250 WIs in Devon, now there are only 158. It is good to note that we are not following the trend here! I took some photos of the Devon WI bunting, created by each WI several years ago.
