Book Share report and a request from Jayne

Last month’s book was Identity by Ben Elton. Enjoyed by most, and voted best book so far by one member. New book is Lullaby by Leila Slimani

Busy and chatty bookshare this afternoon and so many books recommended. Star reader was Anita, who read all the books in Bernard Knight’s John Crowner series, set in Devon. Pat Barker featured twice, in the Trojan War trilogy ( Silence of the Girls, The Women of Troy and Voyage Home) and the WWI trilogy (Regeneration, The Eye in the Door and The Ghost Road). Another series was the Wisting books by John Lier Horst. Other recommendations included The Island of Sea Women (Lisa See), The House on Half Moon Street (Eve Woods) The Vicar of Wakefield (Anthony Trolllope), The Girl You Left Behind (Jojo Moyes), Letter to my Son (Sherre Gillard), the Lost Bookshop (Eve Woods).
There was a wide ranging discussion covering some of the current TV programmes (no spoilers though) ranging from great comedy to quite scary. AI, bots and automated switchboards and their impact led to shared experiences. A convivial afternoon.

This month, 5 sunshine cards have been sent to members encountering some of life’s pressures. If you know of a member who would appreciate a lift, please let me (Jayne) know. Information is kept confidential.
