Craft group success again!

We had a good session at Tuesday Craft this week, learning something about ink stencilling. We all made some lovely cards and some of us (Tina and Penny) got very inky.  

A date you just can’t miss!

On 11 August, Gill, the president of Galmpton WI is holding a cream tea at her house from 2.30.  All monies for Val Budgen-Causey’s Cancer appeal.  (Val has been an entertaining speaker at some of the SW events, so you may have seen her.  She was also on Spotlight news to say that she does not want the NHS to ‘waste’ (her words) money on drugs for her but to use it for research to cure others.  There will also be a tombola, book stall, and possibly a human fruit machine.  If you can take along a cake to sell it will be welcome.  Could you let Mary know by email or phone by 8^thAugust so Galmpton know the number of scones to bake!

• Friday 3rd August 2018 - Painting Stone Mandela's, Kingsteignton, either 10am- 1pm or 2-5pm, £11.50includes materials

• Friday 14th September 2018 - Walking Tour of Brixham's Art Quarter with coffee and Lunch, 1030am - 2.30pm, £6.50 (£5 refundable on day), pay for own coffee and lunch on the day. 

• Monday 22nd October 2018 - DIY and wooden bird boxes, 10am - 4pm, Coombe Pafford School, Torquay.  Price approx £30 tbc, includes materials and lunch

• Monday 12th November 2018 - Fabric Advent Calendars, 11am - 3.30pm, St Martin's Church Hall, Barton, £25 includes materials and refreshments, bring own packed lunch

• Friday 7th December 2018 - Christmas around the World Dart Bay special, 10am - 4pm, Rattery village hall, £25 includes materials for 3 workshops and refreshments. Bring a shared lunch.

2019 Events

• Friday 25th January 2019 - Papercraft Day, either 10am-1pm or 2-5pm, JAX Studios, £18 includes materials and refreshments

• Thursday 21st February 2019 - Cocktail making masterclass, 7pm start, COCO Cocktail Bar, Torquay. £26.50 includes 3 cocktails, nibbles and tuition.

• Friday 1st March 2019 - Dart Bay Annual Meeting, St Martin's Hall, Barton, 7pm start, FREE event but names required

• Thursday 4th April 2019 - Pottery Workshop, Poppins Studio, St Marychurch, 10am - 4pm, £28 includes materials, firing and refreshments. Own lunch in St Marychurch or bring sandwiches

• Friday 17th May 2019 - Retro Birds Mosaic Workshop - JAX Studios, either 10am-1pm or 2-5pm, £18 includes materials and refreshments

• Wednesday 19th June 2019 - Textured Sterling Silver Ring with setting- Furrough Cross Church, St Marychurch, 1030-1.30pm, £22 includes materials and refreshments​

Evan sent me some photos of the first workshop - it looks as if it was great fun and very successful!

Record of our June meeting

Mr. David Dukes stood in at very short notice to speak about the importance of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.  The talk, which could have been very depressing , was humorous but instructive.

After tea we had a minutes silence for Beryl Godfrey who sadly passed away last month.
