Record of October Institute Meeting

Our President welcomed 5 new-comers to the meeting, and asked everyone to look at the crafts made in previous workshops (pottery and mosaic).  The upcoming glass fusion workshop was discussed.
Mary welcomed Christine Saunders who gave a very interesting talk on working with silk fibre, and the life cycle of the silk worm.  This has inspired several ladies to try this technique at home.
After tea, we were lead in seated exercises by Val, followed by the business meeting
Mary has had several calls thanking Brixham WI for our hospitality at the Autumn Group Meeting on the 10th October.
We had a lovely lunch at Paignton Club, and she thanked Ann for arranging it.
Next month, bring in your items for the Kingswear Cup on the theme
‘I must go down to the sea again’.

The raffle this month is in support of Denman.
Mary and Tina went along to the speakers day recently and saw some very interesting speakers one or two of whom we are hoping to book for next year.
The Group Carol service will now be on Friday 14th December which is the day after our Christmas party.
There will be a walk on Tuesday 30th October.  10am Centry Rd.  Depending on the weather and peoples’ preferences we can walk the top path or the coast path. We plan to have coffee at the Guardhouse Café afterwards.
We have had a suggestion of 10 pin bowling  we will see if there is interest at
the next meeting.

Tina itemised the activities that needed to be applied for today.
She took a count of hands for making posies for World Kindness Day.  Sparks said we could meet at her house to make them, at 10:30.
There has been an invitation for food producers to join a Devon Federation group

Craft next Tuesday has been cancelled.
Christmas Crackers will be made for sale at the Coffee Morning (1 Dec) at the next Craft Group.  Thanks to Virginia we have an instructor and lots of the makings for them.  Bring small presents for the middle (to fit inside a toilet roll holder).
