A message to us all from Jackie Bufton, encouraging us all to continue to support wildlife wherever we can.
Our Pocket Meadows seeds are now ready and available, and as before they are completely free. There is just a £2.00 postal cost if you’d like them sent out. Simply let me know how many packs you would like and I’ll get them posted to you.
I will also be at Members Day with seed packs to give out — including our new Super Food for Pollinators mix.
The best time for sowing is September and October, and we’re all hoping for kinder weather this year so our seeds don’t get washed away like last autumn.
If you’re wondering where to plant:
- Pots and planters — yes, you can sow in the same spot again, but don't add new compost - the seeds do not like good compost.
- Larger patches — you may see perennials appearing next spring, and if your annuals have self‑seeded you may get a second wave too.
- New spots — wonderful if you can find one, but re‑using your original place is absolutely fine.
As before, I’ll need to log each sowing location using either What3Words or a postcode.
