A great printing technique to try here:

Join popular Virtual Village Hall printmaker Rachel Moore as she introduces us to the art of collagraphy (also known as collography). In this technique, a print is made by gluing different materials onto cardboard to create a collage effect.

You can find out more about Rachel on her Facebook page: I printed that
You can also find out more at https://www.iprintedthat.com
All sessions at the Virtual Village Hall are free to join. If you can’t make any of our live sessions throughout Upcycling Week, you can watch back later along with all previous content, on Facebook and the Virtual Village Hall website.

A Gel Plate is required for this technique. They can be bought from all good art shops or made using the instructions here:
For this session you will need:
- A design, no bigger than your Gel Plate
- Pencil
- Tracing paper
- A selection of paper and cardboard saved from the recycling bin
- Scissors and a craft knife
- Glue stick
- Acrylic paints in your choice of colours
- Gel Plate
- Cartridge paper
Please note all videos on the Virtual Village Hall are FREE to watch and no payment is needed, but donations to Royal Voluntary Service are appreciated. Text VVH to 70570 to donate £1 today or VVH5 to donate £5 or VVH10 to donate £10. Royal Voluntary Service receives 100% of your donation. Texts cost £1 + 1 message at your standard network rate. Always get the bill payers permission. UK networks only. We’d like to contact the people that text by phone and SMS with campaign updates and new appeals. If you want to give, but don’t want these updates, type ‘NO INFO’ after ‘VVH’ when making your donation.

NFWI - more information about the resolution

As we get closer to the Annual Meeting in June, every WI is encouraged to consider how they wish their delegate to vote at the Annual Meeting. This year, in addition to the local and regional resolutions events organised by WIs and federations, the NFWI is hosting a virtual resolution event ahead of the debate taking place at the Annual Meeting.

The event will take place on Monday 25 April at 7pm, via Zoom, last for approximately an hour, and will be a great opportunity for members to come together and learn more about this year’s resolution topic ahead of deciding how their Annual Meeting delegate should vote. The event will not consider arguments for and against the resolution but will allow members to find out more about the issues.
Members will hear from Dr Hannah Belcher, researcher at King’s College. Hannah has lectured in Psychology and mental health since 2016, for both the Open University and Anglia Ruskin University. Her focus includes the often late and missed diagnosis of autistic women.
The event will be chaired by Nicky Amos, NFWI Chair of Public Affairs, and there will be an opportunity for members to ask questions at the end.
Members who wish to attend can register on MyWI here: https://mywi.thewi.org.uk/.../sign-up-for-the-am...
The meeting will have limited capacity, so spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Attendees will then receive joining instructions closer to the date.
Note: If you have already registered via email, you don’t need to register on MyWI.
Attendees will receive joining instructions closer to the date. A recording of the meeting will be available to view afterwards.

Virginia’s Sewing Workshop

What a brilliant day! A huge thank you to Virginia for planning, preparing and presenting an excellent workshop! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, we did that thing where you cut fabric up in order to sew it back together! Sadly we missed Julie M who has Covid. More like it, please! Ann W has a rather splendid sewing case which might be the next item on the agenda!

Bulbs

We have the bulb catalogues now! I purchased these beauties about 7 years ago from this catalogue! There are only three copies which we will bring to the next Institute meeting on 20th April. (Yes, I have checked the date!
